Florida is a closed primary state. During Primary Elections you may only vote for candidates of the party for which you are registered. There is only one exception - if all candidates for an office are of the same party affiliation and the winner will have no opposition in the General Election, all registered voters may vote in that Primary race which is called a Universal Primary Contest. There are three Universal Primary Contests on the August ballot.
Voters may choose to vote by mail, at an early voting location, or at their polling place on Election Day. The Supervisor of Elections will be following the CDC guidelines for COVID-19 at all early voting and Election Day polling locations. The deadline to request a ballot to be mailed is August 8, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. For more information or to request a mail ballot, visit VoteIndianRiver.com or call 772-226-3440.
