Sample Ballots Arriving Soon

Indian River County, FL – Eligible voter households in Indian River County should be receiving their sample ballots this week for the 2020 Presidential Preference Primary Election. Several candidates for political party nomination listed on the ballot for the Presidential Preference Primary have reportedly “suspended” their presidential campaigns since they were first certified for the ballot.

Presidential Preference Primary candidates had until December 9 to submit an affidavit that would have removed their name from the Florida 2020 PPP ballot. Supervisor of Elections, Leslie Swan stated that “Ballots for the March 17 Presidential Preference Primary Election were printed in late December in order to adhere to the 45- day deadline to mail military ballots, therefore a candidate may have their name printed on the ballot, but has since suspended their campaign.”

Only registered Democrats and Republicans are eligible to vote for their party’s presidential candidates. Voters can also visit the Supervisor of Elections website at VoteIndianRiver.com to download a sample ballot or they may request to have a sample ballot sent by email.
